Scrivo qui per non frammentare troppo l'argomento.
Ho un problema da parecchi mesi con i driver ATI. Ho una (ormai obsoleta) x1600pro AGP; sta proprio qui il guaio: nei driver dal 7.8 (cioè da luglio) in poi non c'è il supporto all'AGP, quindi tantissime persone si sono trovate impossibilitate ad aggiornare e usufruire dei miglioramenti delle nuove versioni.
Segnalo che per i possessori del sistema operativo XP sono stati molto fortunati e recentemente sono stati rilasciati i driver non ufficiali della OMEGA (basta fare una ricerca con google) che risolvono il problema.
Ma per chi ha Vista (come me)???
Sono mesi che la ATI promette di risolvere la cosa, ma ad ogni uscita dei Catalyst rimango deluso.
Non so voi ma credo proprio che la mia prossima scheda sarà Nvidia.
Inoltre la ATI ha comunicato che d'ora in poi usciranno aggiornamenti per le schede AGP ogni 4 mesi cioè solo 3 volte l'anno, mentre per le altre scheda resterà il rilascio mensile. Assurdo! Perchè fare una cosa del genere se non per spingere la gente a spendere soldi per comprarsi un sistema PCI, il che significa rinnovare la maggior parte dell'hardware....

Si chiude così un'altra era di driver (la serie 7 per l'esattezza) e ne comincia una nuova con i primi Catalyst 8.1 che come al solito oltre a correggere gli svariati bug nei titoli compresi nella release note, introducono tra le nuovissime feature il supporto alla tecnologia Multiview con le librerie OpenGL.

Il download è caldamente consigliato e di seguito potete vedere gli aggiornamenti effettuati con questo nuovo set.

No, le prestazione prettamente hardware rimangono quelle che sono ma magari puoi guadagnare qualche frame in determinate applicazioni o giochi a patto che tu abbia una delle ultime Radeon uscite sul mercato.

Rilasciati proprio oggi i nuovi driver Catalyst, release 8.2, che correggono diversi bug in alcuni titoli a seconda del sistema operativo utilizzato e migliorano la compatibilità con la piattaforma Linux.

Aggiornata la release list del set di driver ATI, numerata come 8.3 che introducono consistenti migliori al CrossfireX e all'Hybrid Crossfire.

* Call of Juarez: Performance scores increased up to 20% on ATI CrossFireX™ configured systems containing an ATI Radeon™ HD38x0 series of product

New features

CrossFireX (QUAD) support – 3 or 4 GPUs in CrossFire mode

* This release of Catalyst™ introduces CrossFireX QUAD support for DirectX® 9 and DirectX® 10 applications. Users with any combination of a ATI Radeon™ HD 3870, ATI Radeon™ HD 3850, and ATI Radeon™ HD 3870 X2 graphics accelerators running with 3 or 4 GPUs will be able to run in CrossFireX QUAD mode (when used in a CrossFireX compatible PC). CrossFireX QUAD will deliver significant performance improvements in a number of applications. Users can expect to see further DirectX 10 QUAD CrossFireX performance improvements in future Catalyst releases.

DirectX 10.1 support

* This release of Catalyst™ introduces WHQL certified support for the DirectX 10.1 API found in Microsoft’s Windows Vista Service Pack 1 update for all ATI Radeon HD 3000 Series products.

Anti-Aliasing enhancements

* This release of Catalyst™ introduces anti-aliasing support for all Unreal Engine 3.0 based games (running in DirectX 9 mode). Users can enable Anti-Aliasing for titles such as Gears of War™ and Unreal Tournament™ 3 by simply enabling Anti-Aliasing within the ATI Catalyst Control Center.

* This release of Catalyst™ allows users to enable “narrow tent” and “wide tent” Anti-Aliasing custom filters while running in the Crossfire Super Anti-Aliasing modes (for DirectX 9 applications), providing an improved image quality experience

ATI Catalyst Control Center: HydraVision support for Windows Vista

* This release of Catalyst™ introduces HydraVision support for the ATI Catalyst Control Center under Windows Vista. HydraVision enables users to more efficiently organize multiple applications across single or multiple displays. High-lights include:

* HydraGrid – A new feature found in HydraVision that divides the Windows Vista desktop into user definable areas helping users to more easily move and organize multiple applications.

* HydraVision Hotkeys – The ATI Catalyst Control Center Hotkey Manager can be used to quickly setup and define their HydraVision specific hotkey commands

* HydraVision Virtual desktops – Users can configure up to 9 virtual desktops, enabling users to manage and group multiple applications across user defined desktops. Application positions, desktop associations and display settings can be saved for every virtual desktop

* HydraVision Wizard – Using the ATI Catalyst Control Center Wizard, users can very quickly configure their HyrdaVision settings.

Digital Panel GPU image scaling

* This release of Catalyst™ introduces a new setting that allows users to enable GPU accelerated scaling for LCD displays. The new setting “Maintain aspect ratio” improves the display resolution image quality when scaling is enable by maintaining the wide panel aspect ratio (stops the image from looking distorted) on wide aspect LCDs

Catalyst Control Center: Advanced Video Quality controls

* This release of Catalyst™ introduces new advanced video quality controls: Edge enhancement, which adjusts the level of sharpness of video content and Noise Reduction, which removes ghosting artifacts while preserving details of the original video. The new slider controls can be found in the All Settings page of the Avivo Video tab found in the Catalyst Control Center.

ATI Catalyst driver: Tessellation support

* This release of Catalyst™ introduces Tessellation support in the Catalyst DirectX 9 driver for the ATI Radeon HD 3800 Series of products. Tessellation has the potential to simplify development efforts and improve application performance by creating high polygon models from low polygon models all within the GPU. Applications must also be designed to take advantage of this feature.

pressapoco una volta al mese.e ringrazia xkè se da una parte le ati hanno una tecnologia( dipende dai campi considerati..) rispetto alle nvidida sulla carta, a livello driver fanno quasi pena e appena uscite sfruttano al minimo la loro potenza
